Moon Walking and the Plantronics CT12

We all know how much computers have been used to boost productivity and save time. The Internet has done a great deal to save time in many areas of our lives, such as online shopping and banking. However, a time saving device that is based on a much older technology has proven to be one of the best. The hands free telephone is a gadget that can save you time and greatly simplify your life.

When you consider the number of times in a day that the average person must stop what theyre doing to answer the phone, you see how the minutes can add up. Even todays cordless phones leave you with one hand tied, so to speak. For years, secretaries, office workers and operators have used corded hands free phones, which are excellent when working at a desk. but when you need more freedom to move around, nothing beats a cordless hands free telephone.

There are many good hands free phones to choose from. The one that I prefer is the Plantronics CT 12 cordless headset telephone. The CT 12 consists of a headset connected to a tiny handset which maintains a wireless connection to the phone base. The base plugs into a standard land line. This setup allows you to make and receive calls hands free while working or moving around. The CT12 has a range of 100 feet.

The CT12s handset is the heart of the system. This little gem is about the size of a folding cell phone, but has the functionality of much larger models. Its small dimensions (3 x 2 x 1) allows it to be carried easily in your pocket. The features include speed dialing, call waiting, caller ID, a phone book that can hold 100 numbers and chain dialing. Chain dialing allows you to store numbers that are used after your call connects, such as account numbers. The display is a three line, backlit LCD. The CT12s keypad is well marked and easy to use. There is an optional belt clip which can be used but I dont recommend it. It allows the handset to fall. Its safer to carry it in a pocket. The battery provides 5 to 6 hours of talk time.

The lightweight headset can be worn over your ear or head. Either position is comfortable but over your head feels more secure. It has a feature called Firefly. This is a blinking red light at the end of the microphone that lets others know when youre on the phone. The sound quality is every bit as good as you would expect from the folk at Plantronics. They have been in the business of making headsets for quite a few years, now. Neil Armstrong was using one when he walked on the Moon. Those famous words, One small step for Man came to us through a Plantronics headset.

The only drawback to using the Plantronics CT12 is the possible interference with wireless computer networks. This may require you to change channels by pressing the channel selector button on the handset. You could also switch channels on your wireless router.

The overall quality of this phone is good. So whether youre an astronaut or an office worker, a phone such as this one can be a worthwhile investment in productivity. I wouldnt try moon walking without one.

Video Game Industry to Undergo Serious Change

The video game industry is soon to undergo a serious change. A change that many feel is for for the better.

Currently video game manufacturers and publishers usually sign what is called an exclusive agreement. What this means is the video game hardware manufacturer, such as xbox, ps3, WII, etc. has the sole rights for that publisher`s particular game.

However this trend of exclusive deals may be coming to an end. In the November issue if Electronic gaming Monthly, Evan Van Zelfden says, "that the agreements between game publishers and hardware makers called as third-party exclusives may be ceased in the future." Van Zelfden explains further, "that more publishers and developers were willing to create computer games that can be used for different gaming platforms such as nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation, and xbox 360 than giving an exclusive license to only one platform."

Not having an exclusive license allows publishers to develop a video game for multiple platforms. Van Zelfden agrees, "their games would have a wider market if it will be available in multiplatform versions."

It may be a while before the entire industry jumps on this "bandwagon" however there are a couple of games on the way. The games that would soon launch in multiplatform versions include "Devil May cry 4" and "Grand Theft Auto IV".

Keep an eye out on this trend and the games that will be hitting the market soon. Soon you will no longer have to buy just the XBox to get a certain game and so on.

Nintendo Wii - The Revolutionary Console

The new Wii is the fifth home video game console from nintendo that has already annexed the hearts of gaming maniacs around the globe. The gaming console is the direct successor to the gamecube from nintendo, which as per the company targets a broader demographic than that of microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation. nintendo with this new gaming console is all set to beat the competitors in sales.

A stunning and distinguishing feature of the console Wii is that the model can be used with its wireless controller, the Wii remote and is capable of detecting acceleration in three different dimensions. This model also has WiiConnect24 that is able to receive messages and updates over the internet while in standby mode. It was at E3 press conference in 2003 that nintendo first spoke of the console. Later the console got unveiled in 2005.

The nintendo Wii gaming console was known by the code name "Revolution" until April 278, 2006, The nintendo Wii gaming console recorded a stunning success in sales since its launch by beating the competitors around the globe. It could record sales more than the combined sales of its competitors, xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in the North America in the first half of 2007. While big names including microsoft and Sony had experienced losses with their consoles in the hopes of making a long-term profit on software sales, nintendo was lucky enough to enjoy a heavy margin of profit through out the world.

nintendo aims a wider demographic with its console than that of others in the seventh generation. This is quite evident in its series of television advertisements in North America. The productions are Nintendo's first broad-based advertising strategy which includes a two-minute video clip that shows a varied assortment of people enjoying the Wii system including urban apartment-dwellers, country ranchers, grandparents and parents with their children.
